HTC’s Surround raised quite a few heads due to the integrated speaker system – so far, nobody knows whether the idea pays out.
An Engadget review of the sound system now contains the following quotes:
… we can’t say we ever heard anything approaching “surround sound” from this thing.
…
the speakers do get nicely loud without distortion — we had no problems listening to music in the back of a Manhattan cab. But keep in mind that these are the only speakers on the device, so in the closed position they’re heavily muffled by the screen. …
