HP’s AT&T-exclusive iPaq Glisten has not caused too much of a wave when it was introduced – yes, the critter got reviewed, but that was that.
After about three weeks, HP’s Austrian press department finally got back to us with information on European availability. To cut a long story short, the Glisten will NOT make it to Europe, ever!.
The translated statement goes as follows:
Dear Sir,
we are sorry but the HP iPaq Glisten will not be made available in EMEA. It is an US only product.With best regards…
From my personal point of view, this marks the end of HP’s European handheld activities. It is actually sad to some extent: HP, or rather its predecessor Compaq, once dominated the European handheld market. In Austria, the iPaq paved the road for handhelds and smartphones in a time when everybody carried a dumbphone and a calendar – farewell, HP, is all I have to say here…
