Gresso’s first phone were on par with HP’s original “business messenger” WMS – while this may sound puny by todays standards, it meant that luxury phones were now on their way to become smart.

Unfortunately, Gresso has stopped to evolve. Its latest handset goes by the name Ultramarine Gold, costs 4800 Euros (!!!) and looks like this:
21 05 2009 3 Gresso releases new luxury WMS

All that cash buys you an outdated version of Windows Mobile (6.0), 2GB of memory, a 2MP camera which seems to lack autofocus and no HSDPA or WiFi => technology which was hip some three years ago and reminds me of my QTek 8500.

In the end, I am very unhappy with this new handset. Gresso could have used the opportunity to give the WMS platform a few long-needed enhancements (e.g. a VGA screen) and could maybe even have debuted WM 6.5…and instead delivers yet another phone which will have issues dispatching a QTek 8500…

P.S. I have sent an email to Gresso’s press team asking for an interview – lets see if they respond!
