Mozilla Firefox was the first web browser which was able to take a serious bit of market share away from Internet Explorer (I use it all the time) – even though its growth will slow down due to the release of Google’s Chrome, the folks are always actively looking for new platforms to port to.
Brandon Miniman from pocketnow.com managed to get his hands onto a very early version of Fennec and tested it in his HTC Touch Pro. The resulting 4 minute video is below:
As of now, the product is very unstable and should not be used for productivity – in fact, Brandon didn’t even surf the web with the program (except for Google’s web site). Nevertheless, many cool features are available (or will be made available soon):
- Plug-ins
- Download manager
- Advanced security
Brandon concludes that Fennec “brings the Firefox 3 experience to the handheld”…let’s see how this all turns out…
