As I stumbled into a Viennese Metro market, I expected to see a small lineup of smartphones and handhelds – while their selection never is too big, they sometimes have very interesting special offers. You can thus imagine my surprise as I saw the thing pictured on the left:
Surprise, surprise – it’s HTC’s S740 (blame the camera of my N96 for the quality). The device was offered for 438 Euro OTC, and could be purchased here immediately. The “dummy” demonstrated was a live unit with a discharged battery…so there was no opportunity for a demo.
A quick chat with the helpful clerk revealed that the device is in stock since the 1st of December – however, not a single box has been sold as of yesterday (15.12, 18h).
Just FYI: neither the Touch nor the Touch Diamond were for sale…this was the only HTC device in sight and for sale! They had one more WMS though – it was an old A$$us device which was heavily discounted.
