I am perfectly aware that this device is NOT a WMS. However, I post this to put all useless rumors to rest for good…
Samsung Epix frontview AT&T launches i780 as Samsung Epix
Rumors about a touchscreened replacement for Samsung’s immensely popular BlackJack II have been around for quite some time (and have frequently been ignored/declared false at TamsWMS). The rumored box has now materialized in the form of the Samsung Epix, otherwise known as Samsung i780.

PhoneScoop reviewed this 320×320 phone and considered it boring-but-likeable:

The Epix is a Windows Mobile 6.1 device with no flair or desire to be anything more than a business-class device. It covers the smartphone basics… adds little else to make it an enticing buy for anyone other than business users who need a phone for their daily working needs.

At the end of the day, the camera works fine, the music player does what it is supposed to do, it covers all the messaging needs that you could possible want, but there’s nothing fun about it.

Final verdict? The Epix is epically boring, but bound to be useful for business-y types that need a workhorse, not a showhorse.

OK: but it still isn’t a replacement for the BlackJack II. BTW: the device will go for 199$ with a 2yr contract…
